Silent Ads

Analysing Performance Marketing Ads without voice-overs

Voice-over plays an essential role in most ads, which leaves us with the question- how would UGC ads look if they were to be produced without voice-overs and what are the best ways to go about it?

After analysing several silent ads, here are a few of our favourites.

This ad by Sleepy Owl gets REAL SILENT 🤫. Absolutely love the fact that the only product description is that they make “really good coffee” backing it as the most common review left by their consumers. The play on letting the coffee speak for itself by muting the talking head is as amusing as it is genius.

This ad by Ugmonk is yet another use case of silent ads - you advertise your product via unboxing. One does not need to specify the USPs in particular as the ad showcases every aspect of the product making very clever use of ASMR audio.

Mokobara always has some very interesting ads; this ad is a great example of a silent ad. A simple, short clip consisting of a demo of how to use your product in a way that also highlights its USPs is almost like killing two birds with one stone. At least your editor does not have to worry about a missing audio track in your production files!

We cannot stress enough how much we want to buy one of these just by looking at this ad by Cloudsharks. No demo, no unboxing, no trying to sell your product to the audience. Just a gif ad with three options with an ad copy that says “Choose Your Fighter”. Safe to say, we are ready.

Need we say more? This ad by Culprit is quite self-explanatory. A gif ad showing the multiple patterns they have available for their product and very clever use of emojis to highlight their basic motivation for the product is so minimalist yet encompasses possibly all that they want to highlight.

These ads by Huel are probably one of the most interesting ads we have seen for protein products. The “wild hunt” hook is almost ‘just perfect’ to captivate the audience. The description of the product again by demo and highlighted USPs make up for the lack of a voice-over without leaving any blank spaces.
